We offer a fun and exciting way for kids of all ages to get introduced to the world of climbing.
Climbing is a great activity for children as it helps them develop strength and coordination, as well as problem-solving skills.
It’s also a great way for them to make new friends and build confidence.
Climbing is a puzzle-solving activity. You use your hands and feet to find the optimal route to the top of a climbing wall, gripping various specially designed holds.
Bouldering and rope climbing are the main disciplines for indoor climbing. Bouldering involves climbing short routes over soft mats while roped climbing uses a rope and harness for safety, allowing you to climb taller walls.
Getting your kid started with climbing is easy! Here at alien rock, we offer a variety of courses to suit all ages and abilities. Courses are run at our roped wall, where we work in small groups, teaching important skills and the best way to keep safe on the wall, as well as how to top your first climb.

Whatever the activity, We've got you covered. If your kids are new to climbing, booking a single session is a safe way to experience climbing before committing to weekly classes. Try a taster session, it’s a great introduction to climbing, and adults can join too!
Try rope climbing for the first time.
Our instructor-led taster sessions are a fun and friendly way to try rope climbing and are perfect for beginners.
Children and adults can take part in the same session.
Up to three people can enjoy climbing for an hour with all the safety and rope work taken care of by one of our qualified instructors.
Kids under the age of 8 must be supervised by a parent at all times during the course.
A nice option to consider as a present for your active little one and a couple of their friends!

Learn to belay for your children.
A course designed around those parents who like to keep their feet on the ground and would still like to be fully involved in supervising their kids while they enjoy the thrill of climbing indoors.
Each course lasts two hours. During this time you will learn how to belay your child (controlling the rope), tie the basic knots, understand the grading system and how to put on your harnesses correctly.
All this with lots of climbing for your child while you remain firmly on the ground!
After the course you can access the wall unsupervised without booking and bring up to two kids of any age.

Are you looking for something a bit different for your next kids party?
Why not book a birthday party with us at alien rock.
The kids will have a great time with our qualified instructors, learning to climb and look after each other in a fun environment.
You can easily watch them from our raised viewing area.
Upstairs, you’ll find a comfortable seating area perfect for setting up snacks and cakes during your party. Some groups even get pizza delivered!
If your group has more than six participants and therefore requires additional instructors, you must give us two weeks notice.

Weekly climbing classes
Our Kids’ club is a great way for kids to get regular exercise and make new friends.
Sessions are led by experienced and qualified instructors who will help your child develop their climbing skills in a safe and fun environment.
We work in small groups, teaching important skills and the best way to keep safe on the wall.
All participants must attend our beginners kids club starter block to learn basic climbing skills before attending regular sessions. Give us a call for more info!
We are NICAS accredited. NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) is a UK-wide scheme designed to introduce participants to roped climbing through a structured programme.
